What is a HGV Class 1 driver?
A Class 1 HGV driver holds a Category C+E driving licence, allowing them to drive articulated lorries over 7.5 tonnes with a trailer. They must hold a valid Driver CPC (Certificate of Professional Competence) and a Digital Tachograph card, and complete 35 hours of periodic CPC training every five years to remain qualified. Common Class 1 work includes trunking, multi-drop store deliveries, container haulage, and tipper / tanker operations.
